How Durga was maligned

One of the topics of what is called subaltern studies relating to the anti-Hinduism category is to demonize Durga. So, she is said to be a prostitute who sort of honey-trapped Mahishasur and killed him. Many of the members of the Khan Market Gang in the media gave a lot of print and TV space to these subalterners.

During the last American presidential elections, many Indian-born American academics were campaigning for Hilary Clinton. Some of them were voters, others campaigned on ideological grounds. Perhaps some of the latter expected some crumbs thrown to them if Clinton won.

Barkha Dutt, while she was still in NDTV, did a programme on two of these activists—one (a male) was a voter, and the other (a female) was not. I do not remember their names. In the programme, the male said that Clinton was a Durga and Donald Trump a Mahishasur, and that is why Clinton is bound to win!

Dutt seemed embarrassed with the analogy, because she was one of the prominent members who gave large TV space to the subalterners.
