Journalist Ram Bahadur Rai to head new IGNCA Trust

In a decision that is likely to raise the Opposition’s hackles, the government has reconstituted the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) Trust with immediate effect. The reconstituted 20-member Trust will be headed by Ram Bahadur Rai, an eminent journalist. Other nominated members are:
Sonal Mansingh, well-known classical dancer;
Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who made Chanakya serial for Doordarshan;
Nitin Desai;
Arvinda Rao;
Vasudeo Kamath;
Mahesh Chandra Sharma, former chairman, KVIC;
Bharat Gupta;
M. Seshan;
Rati Vinay Jha, former bureaucrat;
Nirmala Sharma;
Harsh Neotia;
Padma Subrahmaniam;
Saryu Doshi;
Prasoon Joshi, adman;
D.P. Sinha; and
Viraj Yagnik.
Official members are: Secretary, Ministry of Culture; Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Culture; and Member Secretary, IGNCA.
