Yogi Adityanath Govt to set up industrial parks on PPP model

The Yogi Adityanath government has chalked out a plan to attract investment in Uttar Pradesh by developing industrial parks on the public-private partnership model.

Apart from boosting industrial activity, the private parks are also likely to increase exports from the state. “The districts where the private industrial parks are to be developed include Lucknow, Unnao, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Aurraiya, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Azamgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj,” reports the news agency IANS.

The first park is scheduled to come up at Unnao near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The land identified for the industrial park is in Barauli Kalan village of the district.

Business units manufacturing textile and readymade garments, food processing factories, industries making perfumes, brass products, toys and electronic equipment can be set up in the parks, according to the report.

Last year, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced that a number of facilities for entrepreneurs intending to build industrial parks and warehouses.

The state government went on to amend the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy-2017 so that private players could acquire land at considerably reduced rates. Businesspersons are now able to set up private industrial parks in at least 20 acres of land in the Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions. In western UP, 30 acres or more is required.

Chief Minister Adityanath directed Industrial Development Department to identify about 9,000 hectares of land in 15 cities along the expressways.
