Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has denied that the Central leadership asked him to shift to Delhi. He also dismissed the ongoing farmers’ agitation against the new farm laws as “politically motivated.”
In an interview to The Hindu, he made clear that no role in Delhi was offered to him when he visited the national capital recently. There were rumors about the Central leadership being unhappy with the UP Chief Minister, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly lauded him last month.
“We met over issues related to the State. I met him [Modi] earlier too and frequently seek his advice on governance issues,” Adityanath said.
He also trashed the farmers’ stir as of little consequence. “If this kisan andolan was connected to the interest of farmers, then possibly they could have had the support. This is politically motivated. And any such politically motivated campaign will not receive support of people and annadata kisan,” he told the interviewers.
Adityanath also slammed the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party for being divisive. “Neither SP or BSP have the right to speak about social cohesion as they have advocated conflict between communities,” he said.
