The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) organized an online event yesterday to commemorate six years of the three urban missions—the Smart Cities Mission (SCM), the Atal Mission for Urban Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U). The missions were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 25, 2015.
The anniversary event highlighted some of the important initiatives being implemented under the Smart Cities Mission. It was presided over by Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep S. Puri.
The rankings of cities and states were based on many yardsticks such as social aspects, governance, urban environment, sanitation, economy, culture, water, and urban mobility.
