FIR filed against Twitter for allegedly showing J&K, Ladakh as separate country

Even as Twitter is struggling to get out of the Loni viral video case, the social media giant finds itself embroiled in another row—charged with showing a wrong map of India.

A police complaint has been filed against Twitter’s MD Manish Maheshwari in Uttar Pradesh over an allegedly showing Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as a different country.

Last year too, Twitter had shown Leh as Chinese territory, though it did rectify the mistake.

This time, Bajrang Dal leader Praveen Bhati has filed a first information report or FIR against Twitter, “This act of treason has been committed intentionally and action should be taken.”

Accordingly, a case has been registered under Section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) and Section 74 of IT (Amendment) Act 2008.
