Terrorist bid at Baramulla foiled; a BSF jawan dies

Security forces have called off the search operations in Baramulla town where terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir had attacked the adjoining Army and Border Security Force camps on Sunday night. While a BSF trooper was killed and another wounded, the assault and infiltration attempt could not succeed because of the alertness and bravery of BSF men.

DIG North Kashmir Range Uttam Singh told the media that even though the hunt has been called off, security forces are still looking for terrorists.

There was a two-hour gunfight between two terrorists and security personnel. The terrorists, who used civilians as their shield, left a cutter, a GPS device, a compass, and an empty AK 47 magazine behind. According to the Army, the situation is “contained and under control.”

The attackers did enter the BSF camp but were effectively stopped by the Army and the BSF. The modus operandi of the terrorists suggests that they were from Jaish-e-Mohammad or Lashkar.
