Herald case is not for personal gain, says Swamy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that he was fighting the National Herald case for personal gains. He told Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen, “I am not going to get National Herald if I win the case as all these are public properties.”

He was responding to the accusation made by the lawyers of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi that Swamy was trying to create an “archive for ulterior motives.”

The lawyers for the defendants, seeking the dismissal of his application seeking documents, said that Swamy was making “roving and fishing” inquiries.

They said that there was no specific time period given in Swamy’s application for which the documents have been sought.

Swamy has accused the Gandhis, Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes, Suman Dubey and Sam Pitroda of conspiring to cheat and misappropriate funds.

The next hearing of the case is on November 4.
