The government has so far approved 36 foreign direct investment (FDI)-joint ventures proposals in the defence sector for manufacture of various equipment, both with Indian public and private sector companies. Of these project, the maximum, nine, have been grabbed by Maharashtra, which is followed by New Delhi with five.
