BJP sacks UP leader who badmouthed Maya

The Bharatiya Janata Party has sacked its newly-appointed vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh unit, Daya Shankar Singh, who had made obnoxious remarks about Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati.

He had made the remark in front of media at Mau in eastern UP on Tuesday while slamming Mayawati for the alleged sale of tickets in her party. “… But Mayawati sells party ticket in such a manner to anyone who pays her the highest amount. If someone gives her Rs 1 crore she will give him the ticket. But after an hour if another person offers her Rs 2 crore, she will give it to him. Later in the evening, if someone else approaches her with Rs 3 crore, she will give the ticket to him,” he said.

Arun Jaitley, Leader of the Rajya Sabha, condemned Singh’s statement.

While thanking Jaitley, Mayawati, a Rajya Sabha member, demanded stringent action against Singh. There were also demands from other sections too for such action.
